Pist Protta editors and artists Jesper Fabricius and Åse Eg Jørgensen are once again visiting Nomi’s Kitchen. On this occasion we would like to invite you to participate and contribute to:

11 successive half hour exhibitions alternating between two rooms at Nomi’s Kitchen

Saturday 5^th of November starting at 2pm

Framework

artists are invited to exhibit work that they can carry with them

there will be a half hour turnover between exhibitions

this means that you will have 15 minutes to install and 15 minutes to de-install your work

small nails, not too sticky tape and challenging work is fine

anything that seriously damages interior or people is not

if in doubt ask

on site testing is possible

we will disseminate and document the exhibitions in paper, person and online

we do not have a budget to pay artist fee or materials

there will be food

Project background and economy

I received a small Creative Scotland grant last year to come up with new ideas and initiate exhibition activity in Glasgow. One of the projects that I have been working on is to bring Pist Protta editors and artists Jesper Fabricius (also publisher) and Åse Eg Jørgensen (also graphic designer) to Glasgow in order to show and make work together with Glasgow based artists. This is the second of four visits and we have managed to secure funding from the Danish Arts Council to support their travel to Scotland. Jesper Rasmussen, artist and third editor of Pist Protta, will join in on the next two visits. Poet and writer Gitte Broeng will be joining on the fourth.

The overall idea of this yearlong project is to explore the process of ‘getting to know’ through journeying, meeting and collaboration. The visitors get to know Glasgow’s art community. Glasgow’s art community gets to know the visitors. The repeated visits provide an opportunity to develop a sense of place over a longer period. Each visit defines the next. The structure gives room for contemplation, to act on impulses and to exploit chance meetings in such a way that the potential for an accumulation of experiences and contacts can be optimally exploited. The periods between visits are important because they leave room to contemplate the process. The successive visits are colored by the fact that they are a ‘return’ of/for the visitors. A sense of place is also explored through a series of trips in Glasgow and beyond. A still unidentified principle of psycho-geography will be applied. The process will be registered, shaped and exhibited in a variety of ways as the project proceeds. Furthermore there will be a process of registration with a view to publish an issue of Pist Protta with Glasgow as theme.
