Tutu Woodhouse – a thing I almost made…

I’m determined to make this not good thing into something else, and so something better, during the next three weeks. It’ll involve a complete re-write, new approach, but I’m so game. A video about walking, hats and violent Smurfs.

But this video is currently password protected, for vanity’s sake.

We see it once

Just noticed this photo of Ace City Racers, pausing in front of my video, Women: 8 Films. From, erm, 2014 or something?

Second Chance Man – Christoph Girardet

A chat with Jamie Simpson this morning reminded me of chum Christoph Girardet’s participation in the Tindersticks’ The Waiting Room Project. Christoph made Second Chance Man. Nothing to do with sigur rós at all, sorry Jamie.

A 13 Point Script for a YouTube Unboxing Video, 2016

Here’s a link to the text bit of a performance I gave at the NAFAE conference in July at the University of Cumbria Institute of the Arts. The performance is called…

And here’s the visual bit – a silent video…

Why not try reading along yourself to make the thing?

BBC AS ECHO CHAMBER: A REVIEW OF “HYPERNORMALISATION” by Robin Parmar

Here’s the real reason Curtis’ latest was so depressing:

BBC as Echo Chamber – thanks Torsten. And yet there’s a huge problem with Robin’s critique and that’s the presumption that Curtis believes what he makes his narrator say. No one can believe that. No one, anywhere, ever.

And is it so wrong to want certainties? Time to re-watch The Century of the Self…

12-Hour Action Group at The Cooper Gallery

In fine, fine company, I attended this whole bally affair, bar a nip out for a noodles and red wine tea. Amelia Jones was slick and professional, though I could have done with more… Laura Mulvey delivered from her couch, and, as ever, was clear as a bell, speaking my language… Fun-filled performances by Linder, JL Williams (and group) and Sarah Smart. Althea Greenan‘s Woman Artists Slide Write was excellent. If only we had run to time and managed to fit in all of Riddle of the Sphinx... Here’s an extract.

Streetwise – Martin Bell – 1984

After an hour of scrambling around in that internet last week, big thanks to Calum and Stasia for pointing out to me that this whole, heartbreaking, documentary is on YouTube here.

Project X

Watch this terrifying study of a journey and a building here.

“A top-secret handbook takes viewers on an undercover journey to Titanpointe, the site of a hidden partnership. Narrated by Rami Malek and Michelle Williams, and based on classified NSA documents, Project X reveals the inner workings of a windowless skyscraper in downtown Manhattan.

This film is the product of a joint reporting project between Field of Vision and The Intercept.”

Interview with the filmmakers here.
